YouTube Short stuck at 0 views

Your Short is live but still shows 0 views. What that means, what to check in YouTube Studio, and when to message us.

A Short that stays at 0 views hasn't been shown to anyone yet. Since March 2025, YouTube counts a view every time a Short starts playing, even when someone swipes away right away. So 0 views almost never means people didn't like your clip. It usually means something is holding the Short back.

Go through these checks in order. Most of them take less than a minute in YouTube Studio.

1. Give it 24 hours

YouTube Studio doesn't always update view counts right away. Check again after 24 hours before you change anything.

2. Check that the Short is public

In YouTube Studio, open Content and go to the Shorts tab. The Visibility column should say Public. If it says Private, Unlisted or Scheduled, nobody can find the Short yet.

3. Check the Made for kids setting

When a Short is marked as made for kids, YouTube turns off comments and notifications and shows it to far fewer people. Open the video details in YouTube Studio and look at Audience. Only choose made for kids when your content is really meant for children.

4. Check that YouTube sees it as a Short

YouTube only treats a video as a Short when it is vertical or square and no longer than 3 minutes. Anything else becomes a normal video and won't show up in the Shorts feed. Read more about Shorts posted as normal videos.

5. Check for copyright or other restrictions

In YouTube Studio, open Content and look at the Restrictions column. A copyright claim can block your Short in some or all countries. With Twitch clips this is often background music from your stream. An age restriction or a Limited label also cuts down who sees it.

To fix a copyright claim, trim out the part with the music and post the clip again. If you own the rights, you can dispute the claim in YouTube Studio.

6. New channel or lots of uploads at once

Brand new channels sometimes get very little reach in their first days. Posting many Shorts in one go can make that worse. Spread your posts out over the week, for example with the scheduler.

7. The same clip posted before

If the same clip is already on your channel, YouTube may show the new upload to fewer people. Post each clip once per channel.

Still at 0 views?

If everything above looks fine and your Short still has 0 views after 48 hours, send us a message in the chat with the link to the Short. We'll check if something went wrong on our side.
